The Annual Banquet was held at La Scala Italian Restaurant, Dublin, Ohio. 18 members and 3 guests attended. Everyone enjoyed the delicious Italian cuisine.
The guest speaker was Fred Wills, Director of Diversity and Inclusion from Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He used a Power Point presentation to discuss disparities in the healthcare system. He identified concepts of inclusion in healthcare. He reviewed the role of diversity and inclusion in the pediatric healthcare setting. He identified generational factors relating to diversity and inclusion and how these differences impact the healthcare system for workers and patients. He emphasized that awareness of these differences impact consumer confidence, a facilities' market share and employee retention.
Joyce Cox, Education and Scholarship Committee Chair awarded two Certified Nurse Operating Room scholarships. Michael Burnett is a new CNOR and Mary Rogers renewed her certification.
President Michael Burnett thanked the board and committee volunteers that have worked with him over the past year. He thanked the members with fragrant candles. Board of Directors--Kay Ball, Joyce Cox and Pat Dobie--were given blue candles representing truth and wisdom. Vice president Linda Carifa was applauded for the educational offerings with green signifying creation and growth. Treasurer Bonnie Young received a white candle for truthfulness and honesty. An Orange candle for loyalty was presented to President Elect Kim Dillon. Cecelia Garr Brandt, Recording Secretary was not in attendance. Heather Nihiser, Newletter Secretary and Mary Rogers, Nominating Committee Chair were also thanked. Michael announced that Mary Rogers will fill the Recording Secretary seat vacated by Cecelia Garrabrandt and Becky Burton will serve one year on the BOD to Linda Carifa and Kim Dillon presented Michael with a gift card and floral arrangement in a New Age glass vase. Eric was thanked for his past work on the Newsletter formatting and Eric has agreed to work with the Newsletter Secretary for another year.

Michael concluded the ceremony with the induction of Kim Dillon as 2009-2010 AORN Central Ohio Chapter 3603 President.
Kim Dillon outlined her vision for the coming year. Her theme reflects the National theme of Safety in the OR. She also will emphasize Grassroots involvement and hospital policies. Kim stated that she would conduct her first BOD meeting on June 9, 2009.
With no further business, Becky Burton moved to adjourn, seconded by Kay Ball.
